Hello beautiful ladies,
Welcome back 🙂 I have had a super busy semester with a lot of reviews coming in the next few months but my first post back is a fun look at the Met Gala fashions.
Theme for 2018: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
First of all, I’m not a fashion blogger or particularly fashionable in any way. In fact, I wear about three outfits on rotation outside my work uniform, which can be found unfolded in the clean washing basket because I haven’t found the time to fold it in between the last time I wore it and washed it. So, please take this post as a bit of fun, lightheartedness away from the stress of uni exams/assessments. This is just my opinion by the way.
Please note: these photos have been found on the internet.
Top Outfit of The Night
Rihanna’s take on dressing as the Pope won her the outfit of the night. Not only did she stay within the theme but she slayed it.
Top 5 Themed Outfits
I love this Joan of Arc inspired chainmail dress. Awesome interpretation.
This one would also have to take out the most awkward outfit to sit down in but Katy knows how to stay within the theme with her angel interpretation.
This reminds me of Madonna’s dark take on religion from her ‘Like a Prayer’ video. Still, its themed and its different, and definitely Madonna.
Lana Del Ray
Lana’s golden heart with daggers needed to be included because it suits the theme and her so well and that headpiece……just awesome.
Probably the tamest outfit as such of the top 5, but she looks like a literal angel.
Honourable Mentions (themed)
These are all in the ‘themed’ category if you look closely enough and probably more wearable so deserve a mention.
Top 5 Outfits (that have been loosely themed as far as I can tell but deserve a spot anyway)
Blake looks absolutely gorgeous in this dress. There’s not much else I can say about it to be honest.
Hailey is wearing what I would choose as a wedding dress but its so beautiful, I had to include it anyway, even if I don’t know what theme she’s going with.
This is the dress I would most likely wear if I ever needed to. I love the ombre dye look and the flowers add an ethereal touch to it.
Amanda reminds me of what I’d picture Roman royalty to have dressed like.
Another Roman inspired dress that could pass as a wedding dress. Absolutely stunning Elle.
The ‘Just No’ Outfits Of The Night
I have no idea what this is. I can’t even tell if its supposed to be themed or a dress or if Solange has wandered into the wrong fancy dress function.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Themed? Tick. Using the Pope’s curtains for a dress? Tick. The detail in the headpiece looks like it would be better suited to a centrepiece on the table than on her head and I just can’t get past that curtain material.
Best Hair and Makeup
Kim Kardashian West
I’m not a fan of the dress at all – it looks like Kim has taken a figure revealing dress and sown a couple of crosses onto it but her hair and makeup are just divine. I can’t fault her in that respect at all.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed looking at some of the fashions that caught my eye. Do you like any of these or did I miss an outfit that should’ve been here?
Thank you for reading 🙂
