E.L.F. Bronzer Palette Review

Hello beautiful ladies,

I’ve had this palette for at least 18 months and never considered reviewing it until not long ago, I realised how much I actually reach for it. With my system of putting my motd cosmetics into a tray and not being able to use them until it photographed in a flatlay, it means I have to use different items on a daily basis. However, whenever this little bronzer palette is available, I’ll reach for it and so I’m going to review this little forgotten gem.

E.L.F. Bronzer Palette

  • E.L.F. Bronzer Palette in Bronze Beauty
  • RRP – $16.00 from Elf Cosmetics (click here to buy)

Suitable for? – There are only two different palettes to choose, Bronze Beauty and Deep Bronzer, however, the Bronze Beauty would be suitable for most fair to medium skin tones as it can be built up or used lightly. I’m not sure how it would perform on very fair skin tones though.

Packaging? – The palette is a sturdy, sleek, black plastic with the brand name in white. There is a mirror inside on the lid that is nearly the same size as the palette. It has a strong clasp that means I’m not afraid it’ll fly open unexpectedly while travelling. The pans are also removable so you can make a custom palette with the blush, contour and highlighter palettes.

Top left, bottom left and bottom right are my most used.

Is E.L.F. cruelty free? – Yes, although there are some questions about the horse hair in some of their brushes and whether these horses are receiving humane treatment. Some people have the view that even though horse hair doesn’t hurt the animal to be cut, the conditions can be severe of how these animals are kept. Others feel that cutting horse hair is not cruel and conditions do not have to be severe for this to happen. I feel that a brand who has put so much effort into being cruelty free would not compromise their morals with inhumane treatment but I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

My Thoughts? – My skin colour changes with the change in seasons so what works in summer probably doesn’t work in winter and vice versa. However, this palette gives me the option to mix my perfect shade all year round. I use the top left shade the most and will either add the bottom left to deepen the shade or use the bottom right for a bit of warmth. The top right is the shade I don’t use as much because it’s the lightest shade (I’ve built it up on the swatches with two swipes of my finger).

Like most of my face makeup application (excluding eyes), I prefer to apply a little and build it up rather than a lot and have to remove it because I’ve overdone it. These bronzers aren’t crazy pigmented (which I don’t want in a bronzer anyway) but also pack enough that I can feel confident that two light dustings in the pan will produce the results I’m after, three if I need it without looking OTT.

This palette also allows me to customise my bronzer throughout the year based on my skin tone. I have the option to mix and match shades to suit these changes as well which I find a bonus as well, rather than spend money on three different shades of bronzers. For the price of this palette, even if you don’t use one or two, it’s still cheaper and good quality compared to higher end bronzers with just the one shade.

The other bonus is the fact it is completely customisable with the blush, contour and highlighter palettes. If you really wanted to, you could mix and match so that you’ve got a summer and winter face palette, or a travel palette. Its completely up to you.

Pans push out to make customisable palettes.

Pros

  • Inexpensive
  • Customisable palettes
  • Good quality
  • Sturdy and classy packaging
  • Builds up quite well without looking ‘muddy’
  • Large mirror inside

Cons

  • Might not suit very fair skin tones
  • May not use all the pans

So, is it a necessity? – If you don’t use bronzer, then no, its not a necessity but for everyone else, I think this product definitely deserves a place in your collection.

  1. I have not tried this bronze palette, but have been thinking about getting it. I’m just not sure if the shades are too light for me. Do they only have their bronze palette in one shade? I love how you can pop each shade out. I have their blush palette, which is so lovely. I got to be better at using that 😀

  2. I rarely use bronzers so I don’t buy many but if it is included in some palette I use it. I love ELF as a brand and have tried a few of their products and loved them. The blush palette, the face palette, lipsticks but I have not tried the bronzer. But now I feel being an ELF fan I should get this one next time. 🙂 Loved reading your post.

    1. You could make your own personalised palette if you already have the blush and face palette. I wouldn’t recommend it normally if you don’t use Bronzer a lot but these palettes are good quality and inexpensive. Thank you for reading ☺️
