Makeup Looks Using Colourpop’s Yes, Please Palette and Review

Hello beautiful ladies,

I posted the first impressions and swatches of this palette (you can read about it here) so I won’t go into that again here. There are so many different looks that can be created out of this palette but I created three that I thought would appeal to different occasions. The first one is a quick and easy super neutral look for work or everyday wear, a daytime go anywhere look and a night time or party look. I actually don’t get out much at night with a toddler so I wear my night looks during the day.

Quick, neutral, everyday look.

My eye makeup always takes me a lot longer than the rest so for days I have 10 minutes to be ready, I do very minimal with my eyeshadow. I used Full Zip all over my eyelid, then Champs in the crease and Note to Self in the outer corner. With such good blendability, it took me about two minutes to do. Don’t go in too heavy handed though or you will need to spend more time blending.

Products Used

Face: The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer, Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, Fenty Beauty Match Stix Trio in Bamboo, Mocha and Trippin, Violet Voss Pro Highlighting Palette in Moon Gleam.

Daytime look

This look didn’t take a long time to achieve but it is a bit more vibrant and noticeable that I’d wear to work or a lunch date with friends. As you can see, the bright orange shade, Big Cocktails, isn’t as bright or scary on my eyelids as the swatch from the first impressions post made out it was.

Night time or party look

As I mentioned earlier, I love creating these glittery, shimmery looks but I just don’t go out at night so I wear these types of looks during the day. Luckily, my work is quite okay with my over the top makeup. I used Louie, which is a metallic red/orange on the outer and inner corners up to the gold halo but it didn’t show up as metallic in the photo.

Suitable for? I think just about every second person owns this palette with how long I had to wait for it, even with restocks, it was sold out in minutes. However, for the other half that doesn’t own this, its for anyone who loves warm tones, doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a palette but wants performance from their eyeshadows and who likes to play with colour and shimmers as well as neutrals.

Is Colourpop cruelty free? Colourpop do not conduct any animal testing or commission third parties to do so. Their suppliers do not test on animals and their products are not sold in China so they are 100% cruelty free. Colourpop’s parent company, Seed Beauty, are also cruelty free.

My attempts to clean it proceeded to make it worse.

My thoughts? I am a huge fan of Colourpop in general just because they produce amazing quality products at an affordable price, however, I probably don’t use the super shock shadows or liquid lipsticks as much as other brands. The super shock shadows are not convenient for me (I’m just a palette girl) and the liquid lipsticks are drying on my lips which isn’t just a Colourpop problem.

When Colourpop released their pressed shadows though, I bought 8 to try out and I bought them in an empty Z palette. Now, I did reach for these more because they’re in a palette. I’ve since bought enough to fill one palette. So, when they came out with their own palettes, I was so excited and this palette looked amazing. The shades were a mix of neutral, sunset inspired mattes and shimmers that pushed the envelope of the peach/coral trend. I was in love at first sight.

By the time I’d actually bought the palette, my excitement had died off a bit and transferred to the I Think I Love You palette. After swatching it and using it though, my love is back and it’s here to stay.

There is not one colour in this palette I won’t use. Full Zip is the one I use as a base for every look so I’ll expect to hit pan on that one first. Note to Self is a beautiful nude shade too that doesn’t apply patchy like it did in the swatches. I also really like Champs as a transition, base and eyelid shade because its so subtle yet pretty. Mischief was also patchy in the swatches, however, it blended well on my eyes. There is so many combinations with these 12 shadows that I’m sure you’ll be seeing this a lot in my makeup looks.

Pros

• Cruelty free
• Very pigmented
• Easy to blend
• Affordable
• Long wearing

Cons

• Palette is going to be very dirty looking soon
• Won’t appeal to anyone who prefers cool tones
• Some shades kick up in pan

Much better without that brown smudge.

So, is it a necessity? In a short answer, yes. At $1.33USD ($1.73AUD) each for 12 pressed eyeshadows, it is extremely good value. Even if I don’t use 1/3 of the palette, at $2USD ($2.60AUD) per pan, I would say it would still be one of the cheapest and best performing palettes in my collection.
