Hello beautiful ladies,
My last empties post was back in July as well and even though I was keeping products each month, uni simply took over my life so I’ve thrown August and September’s out to start fresh in October otherwise this post would take an hour to read.
Please note that a product that does or doesn’t work for doesn’t mean it will or won’t work for you.
- CLINIQUE Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser 30ml
- RRP – $12 for 30ml or $29 for 125ml from www.mecca.com.au
I’ve heard so much about Clinique skincare but I’ve always been a bit hesitant to try it as well for some reason so when I saw this for $12, I thought, why not? I must say, I’m glad I did because its one of the best cleansers I’ve used so far.
I don’t generally like exfoliating cleansers because its too much for my skin but this one is very mild and I didn’t end up irritated or overly dry. My skin didn’t feel tight 2 seconds after I finished showering and it didn’t smell offensive. Three out of three for what I look for in a cleanser. An added bonus is the tube dispenser – perfect for shower and travel. No jars (horrible in the shower with me juggling the jar and a spatula) or pump packs (horrible to open my toiletries to find its leaked everywhere even though I’ve taped the pump shut).
This is the cleanser I’m buying to take on holiday with me in December.
- Repurchase? – Yes, without a doubt.
- ALGENIST Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser 120ml
- RRP – $49 for The Anti-Wrinkle Collection (includes a moisturiser and eye balm) from www.sephora.com.au
When I first opened this, the smell hit me like a tonne of bricks. I’m not usually concerned with scented (good or bad) products but this was bad, as in really bad and it didn’t go away or become less offensive as I used it more. I can’t even explain the scent properly because it was a strong chemically scent combined with a perfumey scent (trying to mask how bad it was maybe?). I’ll be honest, the cleanser itself was good – no dried out skin, my skin felt cleansed and I had no breakouts or irritation but I just couldn’t get used to that smell. A year ago, I would’ve stuck it in the back of my cupboard and thrown it out after a few years but I’m trying to use up ALL my products so I can review them honestly. This would be the worst cleanser I’ve come across – it was that offensive.
I haven’t started using the eye balm or moisturiser yet because I do still have those items to empty at the moment but I’m not sure I could handle that scent on my face for longer than a minute.
- Repurchase? – Not even if it was given away would I use this again.
- THE ORDINARY Argireline Solution 10% 30ml
- RRP – $13.90 from www.adorebeauty.com.au
I have reviewed this product in depth previously here so I won’t go into too much detail. I just want to add that Adore Beauty now stocks this as well so I generally go through them now rather than Beautylish or Ry as I’ve stated in the review.
- Repurchase? – Of course, read the review to find out why.
- BRITE ORGANIX Hair Masks in Raspberry & Vanilla for frizzy hair and Tropical Pineapple for split ends 100ml
- RRP – $9.99 from www.priceline.com.au
My hair is a nightmare at the best of times – it’s fine but there’s so much of it; its supposed to be curly but I’ve spent so many years straightening it, it’s a wavy frizzball most days and it gets sun damaged easily which makes it as dry as a desert. The raspberry and vanilla mask not only smells divine, it actually does help to tame the frizzies without weighing my hair down or leaving a residue. I’ve tried the Mango one for dry hair as well and find my hair is much healthier afterwards. The tropical pineapple one, even though I loved the smell, didn’t do as much as the other two.
There is also Coffee for stressed hair, Pink Grapefruit for lifeless hair, Tea Tree & Mint for strengthening hair, Blackcurrant for blonde hair and Coconut for coloured hair so there’s bound to be one to suit everyone and Priceline has sales quite regularly on them.
- Repurchase? – Yes, and I stock up when they’re on special as well.
- ORIGINAL SOURCE Green Banana and Bamboo Milk Shower Gel 250ml
- RRP – $4.00 from Woolworths Supermarkets
This variety in the Original Source shower gel range isn’t available at Priceline or Chemist Warehouse online as yet but they do both stock their other shower gels. I absolutely love the shower gels from Original Source and if you’ve been following me for awhile, they’re a regular in my empties posts. This variety smells very fresh and summery without being overpowering. The biggest bonus for me is these are often on special at Woolworths at half price so I pick up a few when I see that (you’ll see the next variety in next months empties post).
- Repurchase? – Yes, I have a few stocked up.
Is there any products you love/hate here?
I didn’t have a lot of empties last month but I am working on some makeup that’s getting close to empty so hopefully they can feature in this month’s.
Thank you for reading 🙂
