Hello beautiful ladies,
Last year, I bought myself a goals journal from Kikki K so that I could keep myself focused on small achievable goals each month. I also wanted to stop impulse spending on every piece of makeup I saw so that I could save some more money this year.
I knew this year was going to be chaotic if I didn’t have a plan in place to achieve what I really needed or wanted to. For personal reasons, I missed January but I kept thinking I need to focus this year and can’t let anything stop me.
So, for February, I filled out my goals for February with a date on when they were to be achieved (they all had until the end of the month), why I want to achieve this goal, what as holding me back and how was I going to accomplish that goal. At the end, there is a ‘my reward’ section as well.
My Goal Rules
I have a limit for each goal to $50 (I can combine 2 if the item is more expensive though). The total is no more than $10 over this limit, including postage if it has to be paid.
Each item should come from the same website each month to save on postage, unless its from a store close to me.
If, after I have added the items to my cart, the total comes under $150 (or $200 if all are completed), I am allowed to add another item. Discounts are allowed as well to keep this total under.
Goals must be achieved before the end of each month to receive the reward.
I apologise for the quality of the photo but I just wanted to show you what it looks like so if you wanted to, you could just use a notebook and do your own weekly/monthly/bi-monthly goals.
As some of my goals are quite personal, I’ll leave that part out but I want to share my rewards and how my system works to keep me motivated.
Goal No. 1 – wasn’t completed (I knew this one would be difficult at the moment so I will include it later on in the year when I am in an excellent routine).
Goal No. 2 – completed 27/2/17 – Kat Von D Metal Matte Eyeshadow Palette $48
Goal No. 3 – completed 25/2/17 – Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Cathedral $31
Goal No. 4 – completed 28/2/17 – Kat Von D Serpentina Eyeshadow Palette $64
Goal no. 3 and 4 had to be both be completed to get both items.
This total came to $143 when I had added it to my Sephora cart. I then added my 10% student discount and it brought it back to $128.70. So, I added a limited edition Studded Kiss lipstick in Lolita II to my cart, and when the discount was applied to all items, it came to $156.60. Yay, I gained an extra lippie while keeping within my rules. Postage is free over $55.
I just want to add that drugstore and limited edition items are not bound by these new rules, however, there is also a limit to this spending.
Do you have a goal system? I’d love to hear how you work your system in the comments.
Until next time,
Nyobie

I haven’t set a spending goal myself; I think my wallet decides for me. haha Great post by the way and what an awesome choice of products as rewards. I have the KvD shade and light eye contour palette and I love it!

I absolutely love the Shade & Light palette too – I use it quite often and I’d use it more but I have to share the love around to my other palettes.

Love this! Such a good idea 😛 My only goal at the moment is to not buy makeup until I go to New York in June….my rewards will be pretty good when I reach Sephora! Haha 😛

What a great idea and well done to you for sticking to it! Maybe I need to do something similar to help control my spending….so many pretty things that I just want to have in my hot little hands…

I know exactly what you mean but I had to stop a bit. You don’t want to know how much I spent last year on makeup/skincare 🙈😬 I was quite shocked when I realised 😳

I can imagine! I am trying to cut back as well. Just trying good old self control (I hope) at the moment. We will see how that goes for now xx

I have been talking to my husband about something like this for us both to lose weight with. It’s nice knowing that other people do this as well! 👍🏻😄

I feel it really works because I get a reward and I really want that reward. I’ve achieved all my goals this month 🤗
